About Us
Our Vision: An empowered community where all live a life of health, hope, and opportunity
Tipton Prevents is all about prevention. Our goal is to lower substance misuse rates in Tipton County by stopping the problem before it starts. We identify community gaps and collaborate with community members to create solutions. We are proud to say that we have brought in over $3 million in funding, but more importantly, we celebrate the fact that we have seen a drop in substance misuse rates in our youth since Tipton Prevents’ establishment.
In addition to substance misuse prevention, Tipton Prevents is also committed to promoting positive mental health throughout the community. We believe that fostering mental well-being is a critical part of prevention and resilience, especially among youth. By supporting mental health education, resources, and awareness efforts, we aim to create a stronger, healthier Tipton County.
Tipton Prevents is a non-profit coalition of individuals, government bodies, and organizations uniting to reduce underage drinking, tobacco use, marijuana use, and prescription drug misuse in Tipton County. We recognize that effective substance misuse prevention requires the participation of all key sector stakeholders in a community working together and utilizing environmental strategies to achieve successful population-level change.
Let ‘s Meet
We would love to have you join us for our monthly coalition meetings. Meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month at 9:00 a.m. We meet at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Tipton in the community conference room (1st floor).

Mental health touches every one of us either directly or through someone we love. Let’s commit to talking about it with the care and honesty it deserves.

Can you spot the difference?
Because fentanyl is so strong, people who make illicit (illegal) drugs use fentanyl to make their drugs cheaper and more powerful. They do not have the special equipment that spread out the chemicals evenly. Each pill or powder is not the same. It does not take a lot of fentanyl to cause an overdose, especially for someone who does not usually use opioids. For more check out https://www.dea.gov/onepill .

Sometimes the most important step is listening. Taking time to listen to the concerns of a young person in your life can help them feel safe sharing what they’re experiencing.

☕💛 Our Youth Advisory Council kicked off the What Fills Your Cup? campaign yesterday by gathering supplies and sharing what helps fill their cups!
In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, we partnered with Crafted Coffee in Covington, 2KC Cookie Co. in Brighton, and Mount Zion Bakery in Munford to spread positivity throughout our community.
Stop by one of these local spots, grab a cup, and share what helps recharge you, supports your mental health, or simply brings you joy. Because sometimes the smallest things are what fill our cups the most. 🫶✨
This meeting was also extra special because it was our seniors’ last Youth Advisory Council meeting. We were so excited to present them with graduation cords to recognize all the hard work, leadership, and heart they’ve poured into our council.
We hope your final senior festivities and graduation are filled with unforgettable memories, and we can’t wait to see all the amazing things you accomplish in your bright futures! ✨

Don’t place our kids in danger by giving them drugs or alcohol this prom and graduation season. Serving alcohol to minors is trouble for both you and them.
